LANovo
An open-source replacement for Google Assistant on supported smart displays, with Home Assistant Assist, dashboards, touchscreen apps, music, casting and video calls.
Apps, dashboards and appearance options LANovo uses the display’s existing microphones, speakers, camera and sensors. It connects to Home Assistant through ESPHome and shares its software with EchoLocal.
Hardware: Smart Display 10 (blueberry), Smart Display 8 (amber), Smart Display 7 (ivy), JBL Link View (opal) and ThinkSmart View (penghu). Unlocking is required. Check your model and installation requirements.
Native dashboard and Tessera
Section titled “Native dashboard and Tessera”The native dashboard combines your choice of clock face with weather and tabs for lights, switches, cameras, doorbells and your home alarm. Add photo wallpaper, choose which entities appear, and group controls by room. Sensor-equipped displays can rotate automatically.
Tessera gives you custom pages designed in Home Assistant: climate, energy, media, sensors, locks, covers, buttons and other tiles, drawn by Tessera’s own screen software.

Open a calendar or shopping list, browse internet radio, watch animated weather radar, control lights and switches, or open your Home Assistant cameras. Keep favourite apps in the dock and drag to reorder them.
The Home alarm app includes a keypad, zones, arm/disarm controls and a choice of designs. Doorbells have event history and on-screen notifications. Photos can fill the screen or appear behind the clock, from Immich or Google Photos.

Voice, music and casting
Section titled “Voice, music and casting”- Assist: on-device wake-word detection, independent Home Assistant pipelines, selectable feedback and a stop word without a wake word. Choose local or cloud pipelines; manage custom wake words and review requests with the optional integration.
- Music: Home Assistant media playback and Music Assistant through Sendspin, with a mini-player and full-screen controls. Use the display as a Bluetooth speaker or mirror audio and video over AirPlay. Chromecast support is experimental.
- Visual feedback: choose visuals for microphone input, speaker output and assistant states, with clocks, photos and visuals available as the screen saver.
- Timers and saved alarms: voice controls, repeating schedules, snooze, custom sounds, gentle volume and wake light. Automations can put messages on the screen.
Calls, cameras and notifications
Section titled “Calls, cameras and notifications”Intercom makes audio and video calls between LANovo and EchoLocal devices. Call from a browser, set auto-answer rules, or record a broadcast for the household.
The built-in camera provides RTSP streams, ONVIF discovery and Home Assistant snapshots. Physical microphone mute and the camera shutter remain in control.
Doorbell events, messages, timers and alarm-panel alerts can appear over what is already on screen.

Home Assistant and browser controls
Section titled “Home Assistant and browser controls”The browser interface manages settings, alarms, calls and broadcasts. Search settings, download logs, export or import portable settings, or take live control of the screen. QR pairing lets a phone control the screen or type into its keyboard.
ESPHome exposes settings, sensors and actions to Home Assistant. The optional EchoLocal integration adds device cards, activity and recordings, custom wake words and tones, and Fleet comparison and settings sync across both projects.
The Bluetooth LE proxy and iBeacon support nearby BLE devices and room presence. Sensor-equipped models also expose their proximity readings to Home Assistant.

Interface gallery
Section titled “Interface gallery”The interface gallery groups dashboards, apps, media, photo settings, saved alarms, home-alarm designs, calls, browser controls and Fleet. It includes clock faces, UI styles, themes, message layouts, timer layouts and audio visuals, with names and links to their guides.
